At Build A Future, we believe community spaces should welcome everyone with open arms—and zero barriers. We recently teamed up with Purple Patch Partners, an incredible local non-profit organisation that acts as a vibrant day centre/school for adults with learning disabilities.

They do amazing work running interactive classes and organising community outings to keep their members engaged, independent, and connected.

To support their mission, our volunteer team got to work installing a brand-new wheelchair access route on site.

Before this, getting in and out of the building could be a challenge. Now, with a smooth, safe, and sturdy entryway, the Purple Patch family can head out on their daily adventures and welcome visitors with total ease.

It’s amazing how a bit of collaboration from local charities can instantly open up a world of independence and heand help so many people in the process.

“A huge thank you to the Purple Patch team for putting the trust in us at Build a Future, letting us be a part of your story, and to our amazing volunteers who supplied the tools and the heart to make this happen!”

“We provide support services for people with disabilities in the Blackburn with Darwen area.

Purple Patch is a non-profit organisation established by qualified tutors (SEN) aiming to address the unmet needs of disabled people, in particular, but not exclusively, those from an ethnic minority heritage.”
